Abstract

The rapid growth of digital technologies has led to the generation of massive volumes of data at high speed from diverse sources.
Real-time data and big data have become critical assets for modern organizations seeking timely and accurate insights. This
chapter explores the concepts of real-time data and big data, their key characteristics, and major sources. It examines
technologies used for real-time data processing and the role of advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning
in generating intelligent insights. The chapter also discusses practical business applications such as customer personalization,
risk management, and operational optimization, along with challenges related to data quality, security, and privacy. Finally,
it highlights emerging trends and the future direction of real-time and big data analytics in supporting data-driven decision
making.
